Dotmatics Acquires SoftGenetics

Dotmatics, a Boston, MA-based provider of R&D scientific software, acquired SoftGenetics, a State College, PA-based bioinformatics software company.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

With the acquisition, Dotmatics expanded into clinical and forensic genetic analysis. As it joins Dotmatics, SoftGenetics will remain a standalone business.

SoftGenetics is a bioinformatics software company that offers a range of advanced genetic analysis products for research, forensics, and healthcare applications. The SoftGenetics product lineup includes 11 software solutions, with seven tailored for research and four designed for forensics. Among its most known products are Mutation Surveyor, enabling DNA variant analysis from Sanger Sequencing traces; NextGene, facilitating DNA variant analysis from NGS sequencing files; and GeneMarker, enabling genotyping analysis.

Led by Thomas Swalla, CEO, Dotmatics provides an R&D scientific software platform connecting science, data, and decision-making. Combining a workflow and data platform with applications, the company offers end-to-end solutions for biology, chemistry, formulations, data management, flow cytometry, and more. The systems are used by more than 2 million scientists and 10,000 customers. The company has a global team of more than 800 people dedicated to supporting its customers in over 180 countries. The principal office is in Boston, with additional offices and R&D teams located around the world.
