MycoWorks, a San Francisco, CA-based biotechnology company, received an investment from GM Ventures, the investment arm of General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM).
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The company intends to use the funds to advance its R&D efforts and build more sustainable alternatives for their designers.
Founded in 2013 by Philip Ross and Sophia Wang, and led by Matt Scullin, CEO, MycoWorks is a biomaterials company dedicated to bringing new mycelium materials to the world. Its patented Fine Mycelium technology, a manufacturing platform and innovation in materials science, engineers mycelium during growth to form proprietary, interlocking cellular structures for increased strength and durability.
