Crop.Zone Raises USD 11 Million Equity Funding

Crop.Zone, an Aachen, Germany-based provider of an organic alternative to non-selective synthetic herbicides, raised USD 11M in Equity funding.

Backers included Nufarm Limited, Demeter Investment Managers, and Madaus Capital Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to enter into serial production, expand their technology into new crops and segments and geographically.

Led by CEO Dirk Vandenhirtz, Crop.Zone is a herbicide-free agriculture company which manufactures the volt.fuel Electrical Weeding System. The company’s system offers a natural organic alternative to non-selective synthetic herbicides such as Glyphosate or Diquat and is also used in desiccation applications and seedbed preparation. The solution is currently being successfully applied in Europe. It is available through crop.zone’s partners Nufarm, Kamps de Wild and fenaco.

The company has more than 2,500 employees and serves major agricultural markets in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.
