Spectrohm Raises $2M in Seed Funding

Spectrohm, a Mclean, VA-based company building inspection solutions for mail and packages, raised $2M in Seed funding.

The round was led by HCVC, with additional investment from Good Growth Capital, RavenTek, J. Hunt Holdings, Dragon Ventures, and Klein Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, expand operations and its business reach.

Led by CEO Tim Cargol, Spectrohm leverages patented next-generation technology that uses a combination of radio-wave based imaging and identification and AI software to provide an autonomous security screening and threat identification solution for applications such as mail screening, customs inspection, and border and aviation security.

Unlike x-ray-based technologies, Spectrohm’s patented radio wave system doesn’t use harmful ionizing radiation.

The company will initially focus on high-speed inspection of international air-cargo packages for threats to flight safety and smuggled narcotics and opioids.
