Real, a NYC-based mental health care company building a new platform based therapy model, raised $37m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Owl Ventures, with participation from former Cityblock CEO and Chief Health Officer Iyah Romm and Dr. Slyvia Romm and investors from previous rounds including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Female Founders Fund, Forerunner Ventures, and BBG Ventures.

The company, which is also backed by Gwenyth Paltrow, Megan Rapinoe, and Eric Kendricks, intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach, as well as its development efforts.

Led by Ariela Safira, CEO and Founder, Real provides an app-based therapy solution that offers programs and resources for creating a mental health care routine across a variety of themes through the platform’s series of Pathways, including body image, depression, relationship, anxiety, career, stress, and more. By leveraging a team of therapists for each pathway, the company works to equalize the space for a wide demographic of members, noting the perspectives of communities like LGBTQIA+, immigrants, people of color and more.

The monthly membership offers the traditional 1:1 therapy model, a suite of on-demand, digital tools for some of the most commonly felt inner-struggles.
