Masabi Receives Strategic Growth Investment From Accel-KKR

Masabi, a London, UK-based ticketing company bringing innovations to public transport around the world via ‘Fare Payments-as-a-Service’, raised a strategic growth funding round.

The round was led by Accel-KKR with participation from existing investors Shell and Smedvig Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development and add new deployments of Justride in North and South America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Led by Brian Zanghi, CEO, Masabi provides Justride, a SaaS fare payments platform for public transport. The cloud-based, multi-format platform facilitates the use of a variety of fare media including mobile tickets, contactless credit cards, smartcard, paper barcode and more. Once deployed, other transportation can be added; building a MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) offering with the public transit agency at its core. Tickets can be sold via branded apps, web portals or SDKs integrated into 3rd party services; all linked together through the Justride back office.Today, the company operates in nine countries, with more than 140 customers in cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, Boston, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Columbus, Calgary, Birmingham, Valencia, Bilbao and Osaka.
