Modern Animal Raises $75.5M in Funding

Modern Animal, a Los Angeles, CA-based veterinary company, raised $75.5m in funding.

Over the past year, the company raised:

  • a $35.5M Series A led by True Ventures and Addition and
  • a $40M Series B led by Founders Fund.

All three firms plus existing investor, Upfront Ventures, participated in both rounds.

The capital will be used for rapid expansion, as well as continued development of the company’s platform.

As part of the raise, Modern Animal has added two new board members:

  • Tony Conrad, partner at True Ventures, and
  • Karen Boone, former CFO of Restoration Hardware and current board member of Peloton, Sonos, and Rivian.

Led by Steven Eidelman, founder and CEO, Modern Animal allows pet owners to consult with vets 24/7 on the app while veterinarians can use a technology platform to provide an enhanced service. The company currently has a single flagship clinic located in West Hollywood with additional locations opening in Pasadena, Studio City, and Playa Vista through the end of 2021.
