Forefront RF Raises £1.5M in Funding

Forefront RF

Forefront RF, a Cambridge, UK-based fabless semiconductor company, raised £1.5m in funding.

The round was led by Science Creates Ventures with participation from Foresight Williams Technology, BGF, and The Cambridge Angels.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the team to accelerate the launch of its products.

Founded in 2020 by Dr Leo Laughlin, together with Julian Hildersley, who brings 30 years of experience in the development and marketing of RF mobile phone technologies, Forefront RF commercializes academic research from the University of Bristol to provide chips that enable smartphones and other connected devices to operate across the wide range of 3G to 6G telephony frequency bands.

The company’s cancellation technology redesigns the RF system of a wireless device, enabling manufacturers to simplify the design and delivery of frequency agnostic products, whilst reducing cost and supply chain waste.

Phil O’Donovan who as Managing Director and co-founder helped CSR plc become the Bluetooth chip market leader, joined the founding team as company Chairman.
