Splunk Launches $150M Splunk Ventures

splunkSplunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a data platform to investigate, monitor, analyze and act on data at any scale, launched Splunk Ventures and two inaugural funds.

The new vehicles are:
– a $100m Innovation Fund investing in early stage companies that harnesses the power of data to change the world, and
– a $50m Social Impact Fund that invests in organizations using data for the good of society.

In addition to funding, Splunk Ventures provides portfolio companies with go-to-market support, access to the company’s technology and engagement with leaders.
The first first innovation fund investment has been made in Kavach, a cloud-native application security company led by Pratik Roychowdhury, Founder & CEO. According to the website, portfolio companies also include: Acalvio, Ksubaka and TalentSky.

Led by Doug Merritt, President and CEO, Splunk is a software platform for machine data that enables customers to gain real-time Operational Intelligence.
