freee, a Tokyo, Japan-based accounting tech company, raised $60m in funding.
Backers included Line Corporation, MUFG Bank, Ltd., Life Card and others.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth and build a platform for small businesses.
Founded in 2012 by Daisuke Sasaki, freee provides small businesses with a software platform to automate their accounting tasks. Launched in 2013, the company has gained over 1m business accounts, while over 5k accountants works on the platform as certified advisors serving their own clients.
Freee is also backed by DCM Ventures, Infinity Ventures, SBI Investment and SPARX Group.
