Aerial & Maritime, Ltd, a Danish nanosatellite-based solution for monitoring aircrafts and maritime vessels, has secured an additional investment of $5m.
Backers included a group of unnamed investors.
The company, which has raised $12.2m in total funding, intends to use the capital to scale up its nanosatellite network from 4 to 8, and accelerate the development of its plans to scale the service offering from equatorial coverage starting in 2018 to a full global coverage with an estimated total of 80 nanosatellites in different orbits by 2021.
Led by Niels Buus, CEO, A&M is a global data provider via satellites capable of monitoring civilian aircraft and vessels based on reception of ADS-B and AIS-signals, respectively. It is an associated company of space company GomSpace Group AB.
