Cognitive Geology Raises £2m in Funding

-

Cognitive Geology, an Edinburgh, UK-based provider of petroleum geoscience software, raised £2m in funding.

Backers included Maven Capital Partners and Enso Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds for the continued growth of the business, the roll-out its software to oil companies and further development of its pipeline of advanced third-generation petroleum geoscience software modules.

Founded in 2014 by Geologist Luke Johnson, Cognitive Geology provides petroleum geoscience software designed to help geologists to find, appraise, and develop both onshore and offshore conventional and unconventional oil & gas reserves.
The company recently launched ‘Hutton’, its first advanced geological data analysis tool which plugs into the major software platforms used throughout the oil and gas industry including Petrel™ and JewelSuite™, to extract progressive trends from complex geological datasets and enable geologists to make informed decisions throughout the life cycle of a reservoir.
