BridgeU, a London, UK and Hong Kong-based provider of a university prep and career guidance platform, raised £4m in Series A funding.
The round, which brings total funding to £6.5m, was led by Octopus Ventures with participation from Fresco Capital and Downing Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to hire data scientists and engineers, continue to develop the tech platform, and enhance support and customer success functions.
Led by Lucy Stonehill, co-founder and CEO, BridgeU provides a tech platform that enables students to build a personal profile, incorporating data on subject interests, grades, social, professional and learning preferences. The matching algorithm cross-references a vast database of historical admissions data points to generate university and course recommendations that are personalized to the preferences and strengths of each individual.
BridgeU’s application tools enable students to build university applications, and teaching staff to manage and track progression throughout the guidance process, assign tasks, collaborate on references and submit applications and supporting files for students.
The platform integrates with school and curriculum management systems to facilitate transfer of data and efficient teacher interactions across school systems. It allows schools to track performance and admissions trends, and performs analysis to provide teachers and senior leaders with insights.
