Leuven, Belgium-based venture capital firm Capricorn Venture Partners has launched its 6th fund dedicated to cleantech.
The Capricorn Sustainable Chemistry Fund (CSCF) will focus on sustainable chemistry trying to capture opportunities emerging from a wave of innovation in novel feedstocks, efficient production processes, functional materials, food & feed products, fibers and transportation fuels. The firm’s cleantech portfolio already includes Avantium and Green Biologics, which are companies advancing novel bio-chemical technologies.
In conjunction with the launch of the new fund, Capricorn has hired Babette Pettersen in the newly created position of Chief Business Development Officer. Prior to joining the firm, Babette was the Chief Commercial Officer for BioAmber Inc., a sustainable chemicals company.
Led by Jos Peeters, Founder and Managing Partner, Capricorn Venture Partners is investing out of the venture capital funds Capricorn Cleantech Fund, Capricorn Health‐tech Fund and Capricorn ICT Fund. In addition, it is the asset manager of Quest for Growth, quoted on NYSE Euronext Brussels, and the
investment manager of Quest Cleantech Fund, sub‐fund of Quest Management SICAV.
