Onboard Dynamics, Inc. (ObDI), a Bend, Oregon-based compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling technology developer, received $3m in funding.
Backers included the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E), Portland Seed Fund, NW Natural and other utilities, and private investors.
The company intends to use the funds to complete development, testing and market introduction of its first products over the next 18 months.
Led by Rita Hansen, CEO, Onboard Dynamics integrates natural gas compression into automotive engines, enabling refueling from any low pressure natural gas supply line. The company Onboard Dynamics is currently pursuing two compressed natural gas refueling solutions, based on novel technology for both on and off vehicle applications:
1. A fully integrated onboard engine-compressor system, and
2. A standalone, mobile, self-powered compressor system.
