Udemy Acquires Talentbuddy

talentbuddy-udemy-logoUdemy, a San Francisco, CA-based online learning marketplace, acquired Talentbuddy, a Vancouver, Canada-based platform for developers to prepare for technical interviews using a learn-by-doing approach.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The acquisition will allow Udemy to accelerate the integration of coding exercises into the user experience and strengthen its experiential learning capabilities. Udemy’s community of instructors will be now able to offer engaging, hands-on practice to their students.

Co-founded in 2013 by Octav Druta and Andrei Soare, who will now join Udemy, Talentbuddy provides an interactive learn-to-code platform which has already been used by 45,000 developers to improve their ability to solve problems, build applications, advance their careers, and get new jobs.

Founded in 2010 and today led by Dennis Yang, CEO, Udemy is an online learning marketplace offering more than 40,000 courses in 190 countries. For companies, it offers a subscription to business courses as well as a platform to create proprietary courses. Udemy is venture capital backed by the Stripes Group, Norwest Venture Partners, Insight Venture Partners, Lightbank, MHS Capital, Learn Capital, among others.
