Uniplaces Raises $24M in Series A Funding

uniplacesUniplaces, a Lisbon, Portugal-based online student accomodation platform, raised $24m in Series A funding.

Backers included Atomico, Octopus Ventures, Shilling Capital Partners, and Caixa Capital as well as other angel investors.

The company will use the funds to continue to develop the grow the product team and platform as well as to expand operations.

Co-founded by Miguel Amaro, Ben Grech and Mariano Kostelec, Uniplaces is an online marketplace for booking student accommodation with thousands of verified properties. It aims students around the world to find and book their accommodation when going abroad.
All properties are verified by the company’s team. The platform shows professional photos of every room and write detailed descriptions to avoid bad surprises when booking a place.

To expand the business, the company partners with some international student organizations. The list currently includes CEMS, The Compostela Group of Universities, The Erasmus Student Network (ESN), QS, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA), StudyPortals, InternsGoPro.
