poLight Raises $19M

poLight AS, a Norwegian developer of high speed and ultra low power autofocus actuated micro lenses, raised approximately $19m in pre public listing funding round.

Backers included Stiftelsen Industrifonden, which will nominate one representative to poLight’s Board of directors, Investinor, Viking Venture, Alliance Venture, and TD Veen, among others.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its solutions.

Led by Øyvind Isaksen, CEO, poLight has developed  autofocus actuated lenses for the latest camera phone applications such as videos with continuous-autofocus. The company works with several potential customers and is in the process of establishing manufacturing capacity in a cooperation with ST Microelectronics as a manufacturing partner. Volume production is planned to start in the second half of 2015.
