Whill Closes $11M in Series A Funding

WHILL Model AWhill, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based startup that makes personal mobility devices, closed $11m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) with participation from 500 Startups, Sun Microsystems Co-founder and former CEO Scott McNealy, Jochu and NTT Docomo Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to manufacture and expand distribution of its line of devices plan and grow operations as a whole.

Founded and designed by former Toyota and Nissan automobile industry experts and engineers and led by CEO Satoshi Sugie, Whill is an indoor and all-terrain outdoor personal mobility device featuring All Direction 4WD and an advanced acceleration management system for full-range speed adjustment.
The company us the winner of the TechCrunch Tokyo 2012 Grand Prize.
