Beijing Shishang Renjia Networks Technology Co. Ltd., which operates Daojia.com.cn or Daojia, an online food ordering and delivery service provider in China, raised US$50m Series D round of financing.
Backers included JD.com (NASDAQ: JD), a B2C e-commerce company, and Macquarie Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to upgrade its core restaurant delivery services.
Established in April 2010 by Mr. Hao Sun, CEO, Daojia focuses on online food ordering and delivery services targeting China’s middle-class urban population operating in eight major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. The company, which primarily focuses on restaurant food delivery, has nearly one million registered customers who make orders takes through apps, website and call centers.
It currently employs more than 1,000 delivery staff nationwide.
