Theatro Closes $5M Series A Funding

theatroTheatro, a Dallas, Texas-based developer of voice controlled wearable communications devices for hourly workers in the retail, hospitality and manufacturing market segments, closed $5m Series A funding.

Backers included Khosla Ventures. Ben Ling, investment partner at Khosla Ventures, led the investment and joined Theatro’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds, which brought the total to $8.8m, to expand its sales and marketing efforts as well as broaden and accelerate product innovation.

Led by Chris Todd, CEO, Theatro has developed a voice-enabled enterprise wearable device and a software suite of productivity applications for brick and mortar retail, hospitality and manufacturing enterprises.
The company, which announced the commercial availability of their SaaS offering in December 2013, is growing with a list of national retail clients and opened a research and development (R&D) center in Bangalore, India in February of 2014.
