UrbanSitter Raises $200K in Funding from A-Grade Investments

UrbanSitter, a San Francisco, CA-based online and mobile service for parents and sitters to connect through people they know, closed $200k in funding.

Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary’s A-Grade Investments provided the funds, which followed UrbanSitter’s recent $15m Series B round. The investment brought total funding to $22.95m.

Led by Lynn Perkins, CEO, the company leverages Facebook Connect to foster trust by showing both parent and sitter members how they are connected to one another. Parents can view each sitter’s reviews, skills and certifications, experience, educational background, response time and number of repeat families. Profile pictures and video give another three-dimensional layer of information about sitters, while availability, hourly rates and typical response times are also outlined.
In addition, it facilitates the booking in real-time and the payment.

UrbanSitter is backed by Canaan Partners, DBL Investors, First Round Capital, Match Group, a division of IAC, Menlo Ventures, Rustic Canyon, Aspect Ventures, and angel investors.
