Miret Surgical, an Elmhurst, Illinois-based medical device startup, raised approximately $645k in funding.
The round was led by Wavepoint Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its products.
Spun out of the Stanford University biodesign program by Kevin Chao MD, Tom Ruby PhD, Hattie Dong PhD, Christopher Pell MS, Bryan Duggan MS and Avi Roop, Miret Surgical is advancing proprietary laparoscopic surgical products which aim to impact the invasiveness of standard surgical procedures while working to maintain economic and procedural parity with the current standard of care.
Prior to financing, the company had received grant support from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance and the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation.
