TechShop Seeks $60M

TechShop, a Menlo Park, Calif., membership-based, do-it-yourself workshop and fabrication studio, aims to raise $60m from individual and corporate investors.

Leveraging the JOBS Act, TechShop is now asking people to go to http://invest.techshop.ws/ to learn more about investing in the company or to vote for their hometown to be the next TechShop location.

The company intends to use the funds to build new facilities in: Chandler, Ariz.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Menlo Park, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; Cedar Valley, Iowa; Boston, Mass.; Baltimore, Md.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; St. Louis, Mo.; New York, N.Y.; Portland, Ore.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Seattle, Wash. and Washington, D.C. (Arlington, Va.).

Founded in October 2006 and led by Mark Hatch, CEO, TechShop is a membership-based, do-it-yourself (DIY) workshop and fabrication studio providing access to a community of creative people and high quality machines, tools and software. It also offers classes, workshops, instruction and meet-ups for people of all ages and skill levels.

TechShop has facilities in Menlo Park, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif.
