Activism.com Raises Equity Funding

Activism.com (formerly known as PetizioniOnline.it), a startup that operates an online petition platform, raised an equity funding of undisclosed amount.

Miami-based Amiata Ventures acquired a 17% stake of Activism, which is valued at $3.5m.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the business and hire new people. It currently has offices in London (Europe and Asia), Miami (South America), and will open soon in New York (commercial office for NGOs) and in Milan (Southern Europe) in 2014.

Co-founded 18 months ago by Massimiliano Squillace and Nicola Di Campli, Activism provides users with a platform to freely create online petitions, gather signatures, promote them via Facebook and other social networks, to download signatures in PDF or DOC to print and deliver them to the recipients.
The platform currently is used by 10,000 NGOs and No-Profits in 32 countries (including France, Poland, New Zealand and Canada where it has a leading position).
The company claims to have about 5m users.
