OwnLocal Receives Equity Investment from Digital First Ventures

OwnLocal, an Austin, TX-based digital advertising startup, received an equity investment from Digital First Ventures, the venture capital arm of Digital First Media.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The investment aims to expand OwnLocal’s services across the Digital First Media network and complement its AdTaxi platform, which is designed for larger local and national advertisers.

Founded in 2010 by Lloyd Armbrust, CEO, OwnLocal provides:
– AdForge, a solution designed to transform traditional print advertising campaigns to digital advertising through search-engine optimization and search engine marketing;
– Local Hero, a social media-powered directory that captures social media conversations about a business and delivers that stream back to the advertiser’s directory listing or website.
The company has received funding from Y Combinator, Baseline Ventures, Lerer Media Ventures, Automattic (the makers of WordPress), The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, 500 Startups, Paul Buchheit, Joshua Schachter, Alex Moore, etc.
