Material Wrld, Inc., a New York-based marketplace that allows fashion lovers across the world to directly trade the fashion items of their closets, closed a funding with the Tokyo, Japan-based global seed accelerator SunBridge Global Ventures Inc.
The amount of the investment, which was made through SunBridge Startups LLP, was not disclosed.
Co-founded by Japanese Rie Yano and Chinese Jie Zheng, who have worked at numerous fashion brands such as J.Crew, Coach and Ralph Lauren, Material Wrld provides a secondary distribution marketplace for fashion conscious people to sell and buy fashion items.
Currently in beta (for only U.S. residents), the platform will be officially launched this coming spring, with a mobile app to follow later this year.
