10gen Secures $42M in Financing

10gen, the company behind MongoDB www.mongodb.org, has secured $42m in financing.

The round, which brings the total amount raised by the company to date to more than $73m, was led by New Enterprise Associates, with participation from existing investors Sequoia Capital, Flybridge Capital Partners and Union Square Ventures.

The company intends to use the funding to invest in product development for MongoDB and the MongoDB Monitoring Service (MMS) and to support its community and user base worldwide.

Led by CEO Dwight Merriman, 10gen initiated the MongoDB project and currently offers production support, training, consulting and online management services for the database, which is today used by thousands of Web 2.0 companies as well as Fortune 500 enterprises in Telecommunications, Financial Services, Media, Government and Technology industries.
