SOS Online Backup, an El Segundo, CA-based provider of cloud backup and data protection solutions, has raised $3m Series A funding.
The round, which was led by Splashpond Investors, brings the total amount rasied by the company since launch in 2006 to $10m.
SOS Online Backup intends to use the funds to launch new products and cloud-based backup solutions for a wide variety of devices and platforms throughout late 2011.
Led by CEO and Founder Ken Shaw, the company offers an all-in-one solution for cloud-based online backup software as a service. SOS provides its product directly to consumers, small businesses and to technology resellers. It is used by more than 500,000 total users to date.
The company also operates offices in Victoria, Australia; Kiev, Ukraine; and Teynampet, Chennai, India.
