RockMelt Raises $30m in Series B Funding

RockMelt, a Mountain View, CA-based social browser, has received $30m in Series B funding.

Investors include new backers Accel Partners and Khosla Ventures and existing shareholders Andreessen Horowitz, Bill Campbell, Josh Kopelman and Ron Conway.

The company intends to use the funds to increase the team, develop new products and expand its marketing and partnership efforts.

In conjunction with the funding, Jim Breyer of Accel Partners and Vinod Khosla of Khosla Ventures will join RockMelt’s board of directors as observers.

Founded in 2008 by CEO Eric Vishria and Tim Howes, RockMelt ise designed to allow users to stay in touch with friends, search online, and get updates from their favorite sites. It launched in private beta in November 2010, in open beta in March 2011 (with versions for Mac and Windows) and as an iPhone app shortly thereafter.
