Vuclip a Milpitas, California-based mobile video sharing platform, has raised $8m in Series C funding.
The round was led by New Enterprise Associates and Jafco Ventures.
The funds will enable the company to expand worldwide and increase its regional teams. Vuclip, which is one of the largest mobile video providers in markets including India, Indonesia, and Malaysia and is extending its reach in Latin American countries such as Mexico and Venezuela, also intends to use the capital to improve mobile video analytics to help advertisers and content owners understand and improve their offerings based on consumption and region-specific trends.
The company focuses on a browser-based solution that leverages html5 technology and secures local content in major international markets. It has signed distribution partnerships with mobile carriers including Bharti Airtel, DoCoMo and Vodafone (India), Maxis (Malaysia), Telkomsel and XL and has content relationships with providers such as The Associated Press (AP), Billboard, Falcon Interactive, and Times of India.
Led by CEO Nickhil Jakatdar, Vuclip also operates offices in Los Angeles, Singapore, and Beijing.
