Web.com Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWWW), a Jacksonville, FL-based provider of online marketing for small businesses, has agreed to acquire Register.com, for $135m.Register.com is a portfolio company of Vector Capital, a global private equity firm specializing in the technology sector.
The transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter, is still subject to customary closing conditions.
With the acquisition of Register.com, a provider of global domain name registration and complementary website design and management services, Web.com will create one of the largest online marketing and web services companies serving small businesses.
