Sotera Medical Secures over $1M in Seed Financing

Sotera Medical Corp., a Cleveland, OH-based medical device company developing a novel device for use in cardiac procedures to treat atrial fibrillation, closed initial seed funding in excess of $1m.

Backers included JumpStart, North Coast Angel Fund, Northwest Ohio Tech Fund II managed by ProMedica Innovations, private investors, and the State of Ohio.

The company will use the funds for further technological development leading to first-in-human testing by late 2018.

Led by William Fuller, CEO and co-founder, and Dr. Emile Daoud, co-founder, Sotera is a medical device company focused on innovative solutions for cardiac procedures. The company’s initial product is a solution for reducing complications to the esophagus during catheter ablation treatment for atrial fibrillation.
