Feature Labs Raises $1.5M in Seed Financing

Feature Labs, Inc., a Boston, MA-based software solution that automates feature engineering for machine learning and AI applications, raised $1.5m in seed funding.

The round was led by Flybridge Capital Partners with participation from First Star Ventures & 122 West Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Chip Hazard, a general partner at Flybridge, joined Feature Labs’ Board of Directors.

Founded out of the Computer Science and AI Lab at MIT – CSAIL by CEO Max Kanter, Kalyan Veeramachaneni and Ben Schreck, Feature Labs provides software products that combine open source and proprietary algorithms enabling data scientists to perform automated and precise feature engineering on structured data so that machine learning and predictive modeling can be leveraged at scale and allows customers to iterate on prediction problems to achieve business goals.
Customers include Kohl’s, NASA, BBVA, DARPA, Monsanto and MIT.
In addition to the funding, software industry veteran John Donnelly III joined the company as Chief Operating Officer.
