Hippeas, a Los Angeles based operator of natural snack food companies, received a new equity investment of undisclosed amount.
Backers included Strand Equity Partners, a growth equity fund co-founded by Seth Rodsky, and Academy Award-winning actor, producer, and activist Leonardo DiCaprio. They joined ex barkTHINS EVP and current General Manager of Hippeas, Joe Serventi, who recently invested in the chickpea snack.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow operations.
Led by CEO and Co-Founder Livio Bisterzo, Hippeas is a new brand of low-calorie, certified organic, certified gluten-free, vegan, kosher and non-GMO chickpea puffs.
Available in five far out flavors: Vegan White Cheddar, Sriracha Sunshine, Far Out Fajita, Pepper Power,and Bohemian Barbecue, the products are currently sold in over 20,000 stores in the US and UK with customers including Starbucks, Whole Foods, Wegmans, Albertson’s, Safeway, Boots, Waitrose, Amazon.com and more.
