Cover Raises over $1.6M in Seed Funding

Cover, a Los Angeles, CA-based eco-friendly housing company, raised over $1.6m in seed funding.

The round was led by General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Fifty Years, Hyperspeed Ventures, and angel investors.

The company, a graduate of Y Combinator’s Fellowship Program in 2016, plans to use the funds to ramp up production and continue expanding its multidisciplinary team of software engineers, architects, and mechanical design and manufacturing engineers with experience in the automotive and aerospace industry.

Led by co-founder & CEO Alexis Rivas, Cover designs, manufactures, and installs custom backyard studios designs by using a versatile building system and optimization software to optimize every step of the building process – from design, sales, and permitting, to manufacturing and assembly.
The company designs, permits, and manufactures backyard studios from a 100 sq. ft. backyard office to a 1200 sq. ft. guest house with a full kitchen and bathroom.
