BrightFarms, Inc., a NYC-based local produce grower, raised $30.1m in Series C equity financing.
The round was led by growth equity firm Catalyst Investors with participation from existing investors WP Global Partners and NGEN Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations in additional markets.
Led by Chief Executive Officer Paul Lightfoot, BrightFarms finances, builds, and operates local greenhouse farms in partnership with supermarkets, cities, capital sources, and vendors. The company now offers baby greens and tomatoes at leading retailers such as Mariano’s (Kroger), Giant Food (Ahold USA), Wegmans and ShopRite, from local greenhouses near Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
