Kizoom Receives $500K Small Business Innovation Research Grant

kizoom-logo-21Kizoom, a Berkeley, CA-based children’s learning company, has received a $500k Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH).

The funding will allow the company to continue developing products focused on K-12 neuroscience education, with a key emphasis on explaining neurons and neuroplasticity.

Led by Erica Warp, CEO and neuroscience Ph.D., Kizoom recently released its second product, a mobile app entitled “Brain Jump with Ned the Neuron“, which contains games that challenge memory and concentration skills and stories that explain neuroplasticity. It is designed for children ages 6 to 11 and is currently available for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices.
The company has been selected to participate in UC Berkeley’s SkyDeck accelerator program for emerging businesses.
