Ayla Networks Raises $5.4M in Series A Financing

Ayla Networks, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based provider of cloud-based services for the Internet of Things, raised $5.4m in Series A financing.

The round was led by Voyager Capital and Crosslink Capital.

Led by David Friedman, CEO and co-founder, Ayla has just released the Ayla Platform™, which allows manufacturers and service providers to transform thermostats, appliances, lighting and other everyday products into interactive connected devices that can collect information, be managed remotely, or perform tasks automatically on behalf of consumers and businesses.
The solution includes consists of three distinct components:
– production-class Ayla-enabled Wi-Fi modules and IP gateways,
– a cloud service for managing devices on behalf of manufacturers and consumers, and
– application libraries.
The technology supports a wide variety of standards and platforms, including Android, iOS, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Linux and others.

SINA, a well known Internet brand in China with more than 500 million registered users worldwide, has incorporated the technology into its Wi-Fi Weather Station.
