Zumba Fitness, an Hallandale, FL-based global multimedia fitness company, has received a minority investment from the Raine Group and Insight Venture Partners.
The company intends to use the proceeds from the investment to further expand into major international markets. To this end, Zumba will partner with WME Entertainment, a strategic partner of Raine, to further build the global Zumba brand.
Founded more than ten years ago and led by CEO Alberto Perlman, Zumba Fitness is a global lifestyle brand that fuses fitness, entertainment and culture into a dance-fitness party workout. Named “fitness-parties,” Zumba classes blend upbeat world rhythms with easy-to-follow choreography, which provide effective, total-body workouts. The company currently is one of the largest branded fitness programs in the world, followed by participants across more than 125 countries. In addition, it also offers a range of specialty classes, as well as consumer products auch as DVD sets, music collections, multi-seasonal apparel and footwear, video games, fitness-concert events and a lifestyle magazine.
