CloudMade, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of innovative tools and application programming interfaces that enable application developers to create location-based applications across all major web and mobile platforms, has received an equity financing from Intel Capital .
The company intends to use the proceeds from the investment to further strengthen its platform and to work with developers to advance its suite of tools designed for their specific needs. More than 16,000 developers today use the company’s tools to create applications for mobile and Web consumers.
In conjunction with the deal, CloudMade will be certified under the Intel’s AppUp™ application store.
Founded in 2007, the company is led by Chairman and CEO Juha Christensen, and has offices in London (UK), Stuttgart (Germany) and Kyiv (Ukraine). Last January, CloudMade acquired OneStepAhead, a global provider of next-generation navigation software.
