Italy, Sardinia Launches Seed and Venture Capital Fund

The Sardinia Region has launched Ingenium Sardegna, a venture capital fund focused on investing in innovative small and medium sized companies operating across the Italian island.

Investors include the Sardinia Region (the initiative is financed by the EU’s European Regional Development Fund 2007-2013), and Zernike Meta Ventures S.p.A., which will manage the fund and contribute at least for 50% of its entire capital.

Ingenium Sardegna will provide SMEs operating in industries including, manufacturing, IT, R&D, services, logisitcs, with seed, start up and expansion financing to increase their productive capacity through the realization of Technology Innovation Programmes.

The amount of financial resources available is €3m for 2009 and €4.672.333,33 for each 2010 and 2011.
