Crowdcube Raises £6m in Funding

Crowdcube-LogoCrowdcube, an Exeter, UK-based investment crowdfunding platform, raised £6m in funding.

The round was led by Numis, a UK stock broker and corporate advisor, with participation from Tim Draper and Draper Esprit and existing backer Balderton Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to continue the expansion of its team, ramp up new product development including the creation of a new solution for companies going public, and invest further in its marketing activities.

Led by Darren Westlake, CEO, is preparing to engage retail investors in IPOs and the strategic investment from Numis serves this needs. In July 2015, the platform saw the first company exit when E-Car Club, which raised investment in 2013, was acquired by Europcar and delivered a multiple return to its investors.

Crowdcube has an investor community of nearly 200,000 investors who have committed almost £100m through the site since its launch in 2011.

The company has over 70 employees in London, Barcelona and Exeter.
