Urban Airship Closes $21M in Series D Funding

UrbanAirship-logoUrban Airship, a Portland, Oregon-based provider of customer engagement solutions for brands, closed $21m in Series D funding.

Backers included August Capital, Foundry Group, Franklin Park Associates, QuestMark Partners, True Ventures and Verizon Ventures.

The company, which has raised $67.6m in total funding to date, has also added Erin Hintz as chief marketing officer and Mike Musson as senior vice president of strategy and business development. Brent Hieggelke, CMO for three years, is now chief mobile evangelist.

Led by Brett Caine, CEO and president, Urban Airship provides a mobile relationship management platform that enables brands to build relationships with their connected customers. Its solutions streamline the creation, delivery and management of targeted cross-platform mobile push messages, in-app messages, rich app pages, Apple Passbook passes and Google Wallet cards.
