Filip Technologies Raises up to $8M in Funding

filipFilip Technologies, a provider of a wearable smart locator and phone for kids that keeps parents and kids in touch, raised up to $8m in additional funding.

Backers included new investors Horizons Ventures, KEC Ventures and The Social+Capital Partnership. In conjunction with the funding, Gilad Novik of Horizons Ventures and Jeffrey Parkinson of KEC Ventures will join Filip Technologies’ Board of Directors.

The funding will be used for hiring, growth and further product development.

Founded in 2010 by Sten Kirkbak and led by Jonathan Peachey, CEO, Filip Technologies develops products and services designed to keep families in touch by combining communication and safety. Its flagship product, FiLIP, is a wearable smart locator and phone for kids.
The company, which has offices in London, U.K., New York, NY and Raleigh, NC., recently entered into a three-year agreement with AT&T to bring the product to market in the U.S.
