Couchbase Closes $25M Series D Funding

Couchbase, a Mountain View, California-based developer of NoSQL database technology, closed a $25m Series D funding.

The round was led by Adams Street Partners, with participation from existing investors Accel Partners, Mayfield Fund, North Bridge Venture Partners, and Ignition Partners.

The company, which followed the release of Couchbase 2.0 in December 2012, intends to use the funds to further expand international sales and marketing operations and support strategic product initiatives, which will be announced in the coming weeks. It aims to grow in North America, Europe, Israel, Japan, and Korea and open offices in China, India, Brazil, and Argentina.

Led by Bob Wiederhold, CEO, Couchbase is the company behind the Couchbase open source project. Couchbase Server, the company’s flagship product, is a NoSQL document-oriented database with production deployments at AOL, Cisco, Concur, LinkedIn, Orbitz, Salesforce.com, Shuffle Master, Zynga and others worldwide.
The technology components are available under the Apache 2.0 License.

The company has raised $55m to date.
