Aira Raises $12M in Series B Funding

Aira, a San Diego, CA-based developer of smart products and services for blind and low vision individuals (BVI), raised $12m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Jazz Venture Partners and Arboretum Ventures with participation from existing investors Lux Capital, ARCH Venture Partners and Felicis Ventures and strategic investors including the National Federation of the Blind.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its service offerings.

Led by CEO Suman Kanuganti, Aira develops smart products and services for blind and low vision (BVI) people. The technology service, which recently concluded its beta-testing phase and is now available to new users in the United States, combines smart glasses, dedicated bandwidth from AT&T, and AI-enabled remote human agents to enable blind and low vision individuals to access key information that they need about their environment and facilitate everyday tasks such as shopping at local retailers, navigating public transportation or reviewing menus or service offerings.
The remote Aira agents go through extensive professional training and are assisted by an AI-powered dashboard that continuously learns user preferences to best serve the end user.
