Lightsonic, a Kristiansund, Norway-based AI-powered software platform for distributed fiber optic sensing, raised €3.3M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Maki.vc, with participation from RAISE Ventures and Sondo.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development, expand its team, and scale its technology for commercial deployment.

Led by CEO Tommy Langnes, Lightsonic provides technology that leverages existing fiber optic networks to provide real-time, high-resolution monitoring of infrastructure such as water and gas transmission lines, telecom networks, energy grids and subsea assets. By turning fiber optic cables into advanced sensing systems, it delivers solutions for detecting leaks and threats, preventing failures, and improving operational efficiency.

The company has a UK subsidiary.
