Hostie, a San Francisco, CA-based AI customer experience platform for restaurants, raised $4m in seed funding.

The round led by Gradient Ventures, with participation from Burst Capital, Behind Genius Ventures, and Daring Ventures, Thomas Layton (former CEO of OpenTable), Mike Dodson (former SVP of Sales at OpenTable), and Michael Stoppelman (former SVP of Engineering at Yelp).

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Co-founded by Randall Hom, CEO, Brendan Wood, CTO, and Anson Airoldi, Founding Engineer, Hostie provides a platform that enables operators to automate guest communication for all of hospitality, empowering them to deliver hospitality to their in-house guests. It enables users to answer every call instantly, 24/7, get real-time alerts when a guest makes an important call—from private events, to guest feedback, manage guest communication from anywhere with a mobile app, view call transcripts directly from the app, send menus, private event packages, links to website, special events, straight to the guest’s phone, book tables around the clock with AI that syncs directly with the user’s reservation system of choice, let guests inquire about events and private dining, accept takeout orders over the phone with zero manual entry, and enable AI powered texting on user’s phone line.
