Tailscale, a Toronto, Canada-based privider of VPN software using mesh networking technology, raised $160m in funding at a $1.5 billion valuation.
The round was led by Accel, with participation from CRV, Insight Partners, Heavybit, and Uncork Capital, angel investor George Kurtz – CEO of Crowdstrike, as well as Anthony Casalena – CEO of Squarespace.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.
Co-founded by Avery Pennarun, David Crashaw, David Carney and Brad Fitzpatrick, Tailscale provides a software platform that enables teams to secure private networks without weeks of setup and configuration with no upfront cost, minimal latency.
Tailscale can be installed on many types of servers including Linux, Windows, Android, and MacOS and also work on legacy systems.
